Immigration Information (non-Barbadians)

Student Visa Requirements
All non-Barbadian students are required to obtain a student visa.
 
Required Documents
 
New students must submit the following documents along with your acceptance forms:
  1. Completed Immigration Forms:
  • Form H-1 (Application for Entry Permit)
  • Form H-2 (Student Information Form)
  1. Passport photograph (1 passport-size photo with white background - must be wearing a top with sleeves)
  2. Certified Copy of passport biodata page (clear, legible copy)
  3. Certified Copy of birth certificate (clear, legible copy)
  • If not in English, must include certified English translation
  1. Original Police Certificate of Character (No photocopies accepted) 
  2. Proof of roundtrip airline ticket 
  3. Proof of financial support (as indicated on Form H-2) 
 
How to Complete Your Immigration Forms

Form H-1 Instructions:
Complete the following sections:
  • First 2 lines: Name, Date of birth, Country of birth, Country of nationality
  • Question 2
  • Question 5a
 
Form H-2 Instructions:
Complete all questions 1-10:
  • Question 5 is critical: State your source of financing (loan, scholarship, government funding, parents, self-funded, etc.) and submit proof
  • Sign and date the form
  • Include your intended Barbados address in the box under your signature (leave blank if not yet secured - do not write "N/A")
 
Visa Application Fee
 
Non-Contributing Country Nationals: BBD $300.00 (USD $150.00) 
Contributing Country Nationals: No fee
 
Payment Method:  
Touchnet Online Facility or wire transfer payable to "The University of the West Indies"

Students from these countries are not required to pay the visa application fee:

Important Timeline
 
Submit your visa documents no later than September 30, 2026.
 
✓ Processing must be completed before you arrive at the start of the semester 
✓ Submit hard copies only with your acceptance forms 
✓ Allow adequate time for processing - delays can affect the processing of the student visa
 
Travel Requirements
 
When travelling to Barbados:
 
✓ Valid passport - Must cover your entire period of study 
✓ Roundtrip ticket - Required for entry 
✓ Acceptance letter - Carry a copy for immigration officials 
✓ Proof of accommodation
✓ Proof of financial support - As submitted with visa application
