Celebrating FST Excellence: Meet Mr. Kyle Reece

As part of our Faculty of Science and Technology's (FST’s) Staff Recognition Programme, we are thrilled to shine a spotlight on Mr. Kyle Reece, our dedicated Temporary Stenographer Clerk in the Department of Biological and Chemical Sciences (BCS). Since joining The University of the West Indies (UWI), Cave Hill Campus on November 8, 2017, Kyle's journey through various departments has equipped him with a wealth of experience and insights that enrich our academic community.



A Diverse Journey
Kyle began his UWI journey in the Halls of Residence Department, quickly embracing the Campus life. His exploration continued as he spent time in the Human Resources (HR) Section and later ventured into the Faculty of Social Sciences (FSS). These early experiences allowed him to grasp the dynamics of University operations, setting the stage for his impactful contributions.

In early 2022, he found a temporary home in the Department of Government, Sociology, Social Work and Psychology before returning to the Halls of Residence. Each transition has deepened his understanding of student needs and Campus dynamics, honing his communication and problem-solving skills.

In May 2024, Kyle transitioned to the Department of Biological and Chemical Sciences (BCS), where he aims to make a lasting impact as a permanent member of the team.

Highlights of Contributions
Kyle's commitment to excellence is evident through his various contributions:
 
  • Quotation Sourcing: He ensures that supplies are competitively priced, keeping resources well-stocked and ready for use.
  • Colleague Support: Always willing to lend a hand, Kyle fosters a collaborative atmosphere that ensures smooth operations.
  • Course Materials Assistance: He plays a key role in preparing and distributing course manuals and materials, providing timely access to essential information and personal protective equipment for students.
  • Maintenance Reporting: Kyle assists in tracking and reporting maintenance issues, ensuring a conducive environment for teaching and learning.
  • Palm Rentals Coordination: He manages inquiries and processes requests for palm rentals, optimizing the use of departmental resources.

Personal Achievements
Kyle prides himself on his time management skills and his ability to balance multiple responsibilities effectively. His successful adaptation to new roles and departmental cultures showcases his resilience and proactive approach to learning.

A Personal Insight
Kyle reflects, "While I’m still exploring what truly inspires me in my role, I believe that each experience offers valuable lessons that contribute to my growth and will help me to make a meaningful impact". This mindset highlights his dedication to continuous learning and improvement.
